Terms Of Service

  • ❋ All points of our print guide should be followed to achieve a good result. We cannot be held responsible for any mistakes or spelling errors within files. If amendments are required by us, studio time is charged at £25ph.

❋ We must receive a colour digital proof, plus correctly formatted and sized artwork files in order to commence a print job.

❋ Once an order is confirmed by online order, email or phone and the digital proof has been approved, we will commence the print job. Refunds are not available on custom print jobs.

❋ We require a 25% deposit for jobs over £1,000 for new customers and custom quotes are valid for 30 days.

❋ It is your responsibility to ensure that artwork is not unlawful or breaches any copyrights.

❋ We cannot be held responsible for deadlines which are not communicated to us at the time of ordering. If you require a quick turnaround on a job (less than 7 working days) please contact us first to check availability. We offer a rush service for 15% extra, where prints will be ready in two working days, plus shipping.

❋ All work must be fully paid for before leaving the studio. Prints can be paid for online via our order form or invoice, or payment on collection by card. A receipt can be provided, however we are VAT exempt.

❋ Custom Risograph print orders are shipped with either Royal Mail or Parcelforce tracked, depending on the weight and size. Any loss or damage after the point of posting is the responsibility of the courier company, although we'll do everything we can to assist and reprint if necessary.

❋ Risograph is a manually controlled, imperfect process and prints will not look exactly the same as digital designs. Mis-registration, ink density variation and back of paper transfer should be expected, although we try to minimise this where possible. Please refer to our print guide for details.

❋ We stock paper at A3 size (297 x 420mm) from various mills, which all have a couple of millimetres tolerance in size. We in turn aim to trim all artwork to the exact requested size, but a couple of millimetres tolerance should be expected, especially for larger jobs as we cut paper in separate stacks.

❋ Publications, folded leaflets, greeting cards and zines are all made by hand in our studio, therefore 100% perfection should not be expected. Please allow for small imperfections within a job - we always provide a few extra copies to compensate.

❋ Please ensure that Risograph is the correct print medium for your job before ordering, as we cannot be held responsible for unrealistic expectations of the finished result. Contact us if you have any questions before printing.

❋ We don’t offer refunds on custom print jobs, unless an error is made at our end.

  • ❋ All images on this website are the property of Duplikat Ltd and you agree not to copy, display, distribute, reproduce, modify or re-post any content without express written permission

❋ We may post photographs of completed print work on our website or social media - please let us know if you would prefer your work not to be shared.

❋ We keep copies of custom printed work for our portfolio (and studio walls!). We may also use artwork mis-prints to create custom products for the Duplikat shop which has been printed over multiple times, erasing any recognition of specific artwork (we like to re-use and recycled paper in this way to save waste). We may also use photographs of artwork on this website. If you would prefer your work not to be used in these ways, please let us know.

❋ We cross-shred and recycle all other printed waste from the studio.

  • ❋ Risograph is an extremely eco-friendly print process and doesn't require heat to produce prints, as well as using very little electricity. We aim to use recycled paper wherever possible and we re-use all misprints for testing or upcycled stationery, eventually being cross-shredded and recycled.

❋ Duplikat aims to be as plastic free as possible and all our shipping packaging is made from paper and cardboard, which is easily re-used, recycled or composted. We're currently replacing all plastic print sleeves with biodegradable versions and our badges use biodegradable plastic covers.

❋ The only plastic we currently use for print jobs is for coil binding, which is made entirely in the UK with no outsourced parts or labour. It is made to order so produces virtually no waste and the coils can be re-used or recycled with other household plastics.

❋ We stock products at the shop which include some elements of plastic, either in parts or packaging. It is very difficult to eliminate this completely, but we’re doing our best!

  • ❋ The maximum power consumption is 300W for A3 size printing. Compared with a photocopier which applies toner using heat, the Risograph can perform large-volume printing with less power consumption. Because we use rice bran from domestically produced rice, the transport distance of the raw materials necessary for ink production is shorter than soybean oil ink using mass-imported soybeans from overseas, and transport-related CO2 emissions are greatly reduced. In addition, rice ink does not easily deteriorate over time, reducing alteration of printed parts, and extending the recommended expiry date.

❋ Since the Risograph does not use toner, it does not need a heater for application. It can be used immediately after turning on the power and power consumption is kept low. Because Risograph prints at high speed, the duration of electricity usage is shortened.

❋ The Risograph is certified with the ‘Eco Mark’ issued by the Japan Environment Association. This label indicates that the product is recognised as being useful for environmental conservation and puts less burdens on the environment throughout the product lifecycle.

❋ Conforms to the International Energy Star Program

❋ Conforms to the Green Purchasing Law: Riso meets the criteria for specified procurement items of the green purchasing law (Japan's act on promotion of procurement of eco-friendly goods and services by the state and other entities). We contribute to reducing environmental burdens by designing for energy saving and supporting recycling.
