SCREEN PRINTING

Using our GoccoPro printer (part of the Riso family!) we can produce custom mesh screens without the need for an exposure unit, water or chemicals. We offer a short-run screen print service from our studio, or you can print at home with one of our kits.

This service is perfect for 1-2 colour screen printing onto t-shirts, totes, packaging, or as part of a Risograph project. Prints are pulled by hand and have the same imperfect charm as Risograph, with a little mis-registration between colour layers.

  • SCREEN PRINT KIT

Our kits are perfect for printing your own run of t-shirts, totes or posters at your kitchen table! No extra equipment or expertise required.

  • SCREEN PRINT SERVICE

Get in touch for short-run projects, screen printed by hand in our Margate studio. Great for t-shirts, totes, packaging, or alongside a Risograph job.

  • GOCCO PRINT KIT

Own a Print Gocco gathering dust? Our mini screens come in a set of two and are designed to perfectly fit your vintage gadget, with custom artwork ready to go!

  • We use a Goccopro machine (part of the Riso family!) which is a digital screen maker, using heat technology to ‘burn’ artwork onto mesh screens. It skips all the traditional set up steps like coating with emulsion, exposing to light and washing out, allowing us to screen print by hand in our studio. We use 120 thread count mesh, as the Gocco machine is able to reproduce very fine detail and photographic images.

Although we don’t have the equipment list of a large dedicated screen print studio, we can offer 1-2 colour printing onto pretty much any material - perfect for short run jobs and a great accompaniment to Riso printing - for example, screened band t-shirts and Riso posters can be ordered together from our studio.

Screen printing follows a similar process to Riso, with each colour layer printed individually. Screen prints will have the same charming imperfections as Riso prints - except one difference being that we can mix any colour.

  • You can request a screen print quote here. We can order in t-shirts, totes, fabric etc. as required and mix ink colour to order. Our basic pricing is £30 per design set up, plus a small fee per item, plus the cost of the items (t-shirts / totes etc.)

We’re only able to print 1-2 colour, up to 345 x 270mm size, short run jobs.

Finished items can be shipped anywhere in the UK or collected from our studio in Margate.

  • We like Flat Fox supplies and only use water based inks for our screen printing. Fabrics are heat cured to ensure they are wash-proof.

Flat Fox inks are Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) approved and carry the bluesign® approved label (meeting the strict ecological and toxilogical criteria).

  • Screen printing requires the same file format as Risograph - grayscale, 300dpi PDFs. The file size will be custom to the size you’d like to print at - we have a max print area of 270 × 345mm which could be one large design, or potentially a few smaller designs laid onto the same mesh.

The GoccoPro also processes artwork files in the same way as Risograph - translating levels of black for ink to pass through the mesh. Anything 100% black will transfer to 100% print, then varying amounts depending on different tones / halftones / opacities in the artwork. The GoccoPro machine can replicate halftone effects and photographs with excellent resolution and detail.

  • Each layer is screen printed one at a time by hand in our studio, therefore you’ll likely see mis-alignment between ink layers and other small imperfections in the printed surface. If your design demands precision or more than 2 ink colours, we recommend contacting a dedicated screen print studio instead.

  • Our screens have a max print size of 270 × 345mm, but we can confirm artwork sizing and placement once we’ve checked your files.

You could print one large design, or even smaller designs laid across the same mesh (for small patches, or different parts of a t-shirt, for example). We can discuss how best to print artwork once we’ve checked your files.

  • As we screen everything by hand, prints will likely contain imperfections such as misaligned layers, subtle variations of ink coverage and small areas of cracking / speckling in the printed surface. It’s a very eco-friendly process due to the lack of chemicals, water and energy usage and cheaper and quicker than traditional screen printing - perfect for small businesses, artists and bands.

If you’re looking for slick screen printing with very fine alignment and multiple colours, we recommend contacting a dedicated screen print studio instead.

We don’t offer refunds for custom screen prints if you’re not happy with the result (unless we’ve made an error of course), so do make sure the style of printing will suit your project before ordering.

As screen printing can be full of surprises we may include extra goodies in your parcel such as misprints or overprints (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)
